Pro-Set Singles League Rules

The Match:
Each match is a pro set to 8. That is, the first player to win 8 games wins. You have to win by 2 games. At 7-7, a tiebreaker is played. If the match cannot be properly concluded in the time booked, play will cease when incoming players reach courtside. At this time: if one player has a two or more game lead (e.g. 6-4, 7-3), then that player will be declared the winner; if the players are only 1 game apart (e.g. 6-5, 7-6), or are tied, then the match will be declared a tie and each player will receive 2 points.
Points:
1. A win gets 3 points; a loss is 1. A tie is 2 points. Where a tiebreaker has been played, the winner of the match gets 3 points, while the player who lost the tiebreaker will get 2 points. An unplayed match receives 0 points.
2. PLEASE NOTE THE SCORE ON THE SHEET POSTED AT THE BUBBLE. As well, I would appreciate it players emailed me the score to me as a backup.
3. At the end of each round, points are added up. The top 1 or 2 players in each pool will move up a pool. The bottom 1 or 2 players in each pool will move down a pool. Whether it is 1 or 2 players moving up or down is contingent on numbers and which players are continuing on. Note that we try to place players new to the league in the pool most appropriate to their level of play.
Balls:
Ideally, matches will be played with new balls.
Options:
1) Each player brings an unopened can to the match. One can is used for the match. The winner gets the unopened can; the loser gets the used can.
2) Players share the cost of a new can and the winner gets the can after the match.
3) Players choose to use an already opened can of balls, provided by either player. Even if these balls are relatively new, there will be no trophy new can for the winner of the match.
Scheduling your Match:
1. You need to conclude all of your pool’s matches by the date on the draw sheet. Whether you play all of your games in one week or spread them out is up to you.
2. Arrange your own matches with your opponent. Players pay for their own court time.
3. Stick to a reasonable warm-up (max. 10 min.) If you cannot conclude your match in the time you have booked for it, then whatever your score is at the time you leave the court will be the final score.
